A Reminder To Breathe: Check Out “Oxygen” From Philadelphia’s The Dawn Drapes

By Brian Walker

Oxygen by The Dawn Drapes reminds us that we all need time to relax and breathe.

In contrast with last month’s release, “Facts,” The Dawn Drapes shows that they are a dynamic and pop rock band. “Oxygen,” starts off rhythmically with an open yet atmospheric vibe that brings the listener to an ease. Following nostalgic vocals that are reminiscent of the late 90s band “My Morning Jacket,” The Dawn Drapes uses their musical charm with this refreshing summer tune.

Oxygen shares the experience of enjoying summer by “staying up late and sleeping in.” However, you could also argue that might be the theme of 2020, given the amount of unrest many of us have been experiencing. Oxygen turns around quickly but makes us want to listen again. Whether it be the guitar solo or singing along to the hook, The Dawn Drapes leaves you wanting more. I am willing to bet that The Dawn Drapes will be showing us a lot more as they continue to release and showcase more of their musical catalogue for their 2020 singles project.

The Dawn Drapes is an indie rock band that Philadelphia does not want to miss, they are refreshing, they are catchy and they are a hybrid of classic nostalgia and new age charm.
