Today The Philadelphia Globe is thrilled to premiere “Facts,” the newest single from Philadelphia indie rockers, The Dawn Drapes. The track features a snarly guitar line and danceable backbeat juxtaposed with pointed lyrics questioning who’s “facts” are the real facts. The augmented artwork that accompanies the single is an image of a grainy television screen with the band’s name and the title of the track, which is fuzzy and out of focus, giving the feeling that we have to manually adjust our televisions to make the message clearer, the perfect metaphor for this moment in time. “Facts” is the first of a series of singles to be released by The Dawn Drapes throughout this year.
“Facts explores the new state of apathy toward truth and honesty in our modern society. The refrain of ‘Your Facts or My Facts’ is intended to show the absurdity of the notion that factual information would be in the eye of the beholder. The Drapes present this ‘Death of Objectivity‘ against the backdrop of an upbeat, funky landscape to present a dark and satirical product for the listener.”
