5 Reasons to Show Your Love for ‘PHLove’ Tonight

You might want to freshen up your best pair of sweatpants for this soon-to-be spectacular virtual event.

Tonight – Thursday night, May 21st at 7 pm, the PHLove variety show benefitting the Philly COVID-19 fund is gearing up to bring this great city a dazzling night of entertainment unlike any we’ve experienced before.

In a few words, we can certainly go for all of it… isn’t that right, Hall & Oates

Here are 5 reasons why you shouldn’t miss a shimmering second of, well, any of it.

1. The extraordinary entertainment line-up…

Besides the legendary Patti LaBelle giving us all she’s got, fellow Philly music legends Hall & OatesAmos Lee, Jeffrey Gaines, and Questlove (among several others) will certainly be adding more iconic reasons why Thursday night’s special concert is an absolute must-watch.

And if that’s not enough City of Brotherly Music Love for you, the one, the only, DJ Jazzy Jeff will also be cruising through to hopefully drop some “Summertime” beats right when we need them the most…which is now, of course.

2. When Philly worlds collide….entertainment magic occurs.

Graciously put together by the Middleton Family, the once-in-a-lifetime Philly entertainment extravaganza is presented by Philadelphia Phillies Managing Partner John Middleton and his wife, Leigh.

“These past two months have been a distressing time for all of us – particularly those who are most in need and lacking food, shelter, and hope,” John Middleton stated in an official press statement about the show. “We all know there are people who can use a hand up right now.”

Leigh Middleton also added, “The PHL COVID-19 Fund is doing an incredible job helping nonprofits on the front line of the region’s response to this pandemic. We’re honored to be a part of this effort to raise funds for those most in need and excited to bring this program to the community.”

We can feel—and hear—the LOVE already.

3. ALL proceeds will benefit the PHL COVID-19 Fund…

Perhaps the grandest part of this fabulous virtual fundraiser is that every single cent raised will go directly to the PHL COVID-19 Fund, a joint fundraising effort of the Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey

Since March 19th, the fund has raised a whopping $16 million dollars and aided nearly 400 regional nonprofits from across the region. Also, donations from this week’s special event are prioritized to those hit hardest hit by the pandemic, including the elderly and those experiencing homelessness.

And if you would like to get a head start on spreading the love before the show (really, who wouldn’t?!), you can jump on over the official PHL COVID-19 site right here.

4. We just have to mention Ms. LaBelle one more time….

She does have a piece of Broad Street named after her, so, how about a little “New Attitude” to keep us feeling good from our heads to our shoes above this current darkness?

Turn it up.

5. Really, what else are you going to be doing?

Since we should all still be practicing social distancing—if you’re not..please, please do—there shouldn’t be any reason to miss a single moment of the PHLove fundraising concert this Thursday night.

Seriously…no reason. Now, let’s get ready to lace up the sweats and bask in all the love.
